Bohdan Kuzmich — Designer and Creative Technologist

The first comprehensive interactive map of San Francisco’s government structure, cataloguing public entities and relationships such as appointment and oversight, with links to the legal sources establishing them.

I joined while the team was defining how the government data, interface and map should work together. I led the interactive map—from technology selection and visual logic to interaction design, development and integration with the surrounding website.

Working from the initial orbital concept, I designed and built a custom force-directed system in p5.js. It organises government entities across institutional levels and reveals their connections through search, zoom, hover, selection and animated navigation. I implemented two-way synchronisation with the HTML interface and optimised the experience for mobile and touch.
